The Society is a voluntary, independent, non-political associations of friends of the North European countries, i.e. Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden in Czech Republic.
The aim and purpose of the Society is in particular:
- To promote a deeper understanding of the North European countries, especially their languages, cultures, social interests, economical, political and welfare systems, the way of live of their citizens for the Czech public.
- To promote the advancement of cultural relations between Czech Republic and the North European, countries.
- To promote and further personal contacts and friend relation between peoples of Czech and Nordic countries.
- To maintain, establish contacts and enhance relations with friends of Czech republic and their organizations in the North European countries.
- To cooperate with other organizations with similar orientations.

Is a cultural and educational centre, which proposes to take an active role in the promotion and consolidation of the cultural and social relationship between The Czech Republic and Scandinavian countries. For this reason we hold various activities such as exhibitions - feature work by both Czech and Scandinavian artists, lectures (we principally focus on literature and language lectures but we also offer travelogs and narrations), colloquiums, movie and theatre performances, concerts and other meetings. Our current programme may be found on our web site. There you will also find information about other cultural and social activities focused on Scandinavia in The Czech Republic – you are welcome to join them. The Scandinavian House uses for its activities premises at Zlatnická 10, Praha 1 where you will also find the stylish Café Nordica and our language school. Visitors to the Cafe may read Scandinavian newspapers and borrow magazines and books by Scandinavian authors both translated and in their original language. We gather all the important information about Scandinavian countries as well as interesting things to read. If you speak one of the Nordic languages you may find interesting job opportunities on our web site.
