Nordic Chamber Launches 2026 with High-Energy “Back to Business” Event in Prague
Prague, January 29, 2026 – The Nordic Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic opened the new business year with its flagship Back to Business event, bringing together members, partners, diplomats, and business leaders for an evening of networking, reflection, and forward-looking discussion at the Embassy of Sweden in Prague.
The gathering highlighted the Chamber’s role as a platform that connects and inspires Nordic–Czech business cooperation. In his keynote remarks, the President of the Chamber, Björn Mattsson reflected on the organisation’s milestone year and outlined priorities for the future: “The Chamber is first and foremost a business community with the ambition to connect and inspire,” said Mattsson. “In 2025 we celebrated 30 years—ten as a Swedish chamber and twenty as a Nordic one. We organised dozens of events, completed our third Mentoring Programme, and continued to grow in relevance thanks to the engagement of our members.”
He welcomed returning member Škoda Transportation, new members Prague Spring and TMF Group, encouraged prospective companies to join, and thanked long-standing partners, including general partner YIT and Volvo Cars. Moreover, he welcomed Estonian guest company Bolt to the event, reflecting the long-standing and active Nordic–Baltic connection. Mattsson also called on members to stand for board election in the upcoming spring Annual General Meeting and previewed plans for 2026, including new events, the continued Mentoring Programme, and a redesigned Awards initiative reflecting Nordic values.
The event was hosted by the Embassy of Sweden, with H.E. Ambassador Håkan Jevrell welcoming the business community and addressing the audience: “Nordic cooperation is rooted in trust, innovation, and openness,” Ambassador Jevrell noted. “The Nordic Chamber plays a vital role in translating these values into practical business partnerships here in Czechia.”
The Honorary Chariman of the Chamber, H.E. Soren Kelstrup, Ambassador of Denmark, underlined the importance of the Chamber’s platform for regional collaboration: “This network demonstrates how Nordic companies can work together across borders while contributing positively to the Czech economy,” the Ambassador said. “Events like this are essential for building long-term commercial relationships.”
The evening also marked the official introduction of the Chamber’s new Executive Director, Lenka Simerská, who addressed guests for the first time in her new role: “I am honored to join such a strong and engaged Nordic business community,” said Simerska. “The Chamber has built an exceptional reputation over three decades, and I look forward to building on this foundation. My goal is to strengthen connections across sectors, facilitate dialogue with public institutions, and enhance long-term impact in the Czech market, with the Chamber standing as a benchmark for Nordic values here in Czechia. Platforms like this matter now more than ever, especially in our world of rapid change and economic shifts.”
In addition to speeches and networking, guests enjoyed a distinctive Nordic touch with Swedish cuisine and live music performed by Chamber members, reinforcing the community-driven spirit of the evening.
With strong attendance and a forward-looking agenda, the Back to Business event set the tone for an active year ahead as the Nordic Chamber continues to serve as a benchmark for values-driven business and cross-border cooperation in Central Europe.
