Jahn: Automotive industry faces bankruptcy

(CIANEWS) - The situation in the Czech automotive industry is very serious and critical, particularly for smaller and medium-sized companies with energy-intensive operations. ŠKODA AUTO board member for sales and marketing Martin Jahn added for ČIANEWS that many companies were close to bankruptcy. For the time being, ŠKODA AUTO does not know the details of the government solution. Still, the proposed programme is not ideal with regard to its being very late and to the limitations imposed by the European Commission. The planned compensations will also hardly cover the difference in the costs of some suppliers. Many companies will probably not even be eligible for the relevant assistance. Jahn added that he wanted quick measures to stabilise the supply chain and carmakers. Inaccessible and expensive energy would have a massive impact on the income of the state budget and redundancies in the automotive industry.
