(CIANEWS) - The total number of invalid banknotes in circulation is in the tens of millions. Tomáš Hládek, an expert on payments and money circulation of the Czech Banking Association (CBA), said that roughly one third (22 million) of invalid 100 banknotes are in circulation, while more than one fifth of 200 banknotes are invalid. Banknotes can be exchanged at all bank branches where they have a cash desk or deposit ATM. Banks will accept them until June 2024. At the end of June 2022, the Czech National Bank decided to withdraw some designs, namely the banknotes with a thin silver stripe from 1995 to 1999.
