(CIANEWS) - In 2022, the current and capital account balance further deepened to 6.0% of GDP. This information was provided by the Czech National Bank (ČNB), adding that the payment balance’s current account ended in a deep deficit of 6.1% of the GDP in 2022. The main cause was another sharp increase in the prices of imported raw materials, especially energy ones. In addition, exporters’ production problems continued, related to interruptions to the global supply chain after the Covid-19 pandemic. The total deficit of the payment balance against abroad was not dampened by the usual net income from the EU budget, as it was similarly deepened by net purchases of emission permits. The capital account thus ended in a negligible surplus of 0.1% of GDP.
