ČVUT: Scientists work on sterilizing air purifier against viruses

(ČIA) Researchers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) are developing a new concept of a purifier that can sterilize air. The innovative solution is intended to become a means of collective protection against viruses such as COVID-19. It can be used in air conditioning or ventilation systems of buildings or means of passenger and public transport. The purifier does not use UV emitters, but a patented composite material consisting of carbon fabric, nanotextiles and an electrode system. The construction of the material allows to achieve a temperature of 100 °C as required during sterilization with a low voltage of 12 V, which eliminates the COVID-19 virus within 15 minutes.
