Denmark: Commuting by bike reduces number of sick days

the number of cycle journeys in the region has risen by one fifth in the past ten years, with cycling chosen for one quarter of all journeys. People commuting to work by bike add to the success of the local economy, the report indicates. Cycling by residents means fewer sick days per year in the Capital Region overall, which translates into saving €215 million on sick leave. On average, the number of sick days is reduced by one day per 1,200 km of cycling. Commuting by bike also helps to reduce traffic congestion and late arrivals which cost the society 130,000 hours per day and €1.1 billion per year. - Cyklonoviny.cz -
