The European Commission grant will cover three quarters of the €250 million project. The grant will be paid to the Finnish state-owned Baltic Connector Oy as well the Estonian energy company Elering AS. Scheduled to be completed by 2019, the offshore natural gas pipeline will enable Finland's access to the EU common market. “Today is a historic day from the perspective of the Finnish energy market. The Commission has shown its support for the integration of the Finnish gas market into the European gas market,” said Economic Affairs Minister Olli Rehn in a statement. (Finland Times)
