(ČIA) On February 8, 2022, the European Commission (EC) issued a chip act to address the semiconductor shortage and ensure the EU's independence and leadership in technology and applications. It is also intended to help achieve digital and green transformation. The EU aims to double its current market share to 20% by 2030. The EC, therefore, plans to mobilise public and private investment of more than EUR 43bn to address shortages in this area and to set out measures to prevent and anticipate potential future supply chain disruptions.
