(ČIA) According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), the Czech Republic is prepared for possible cuts in resource supplies, such as crude oil and natural gas, in connection with the Russian attack against Ukraine. After a meeting of the State Security Council on February 24, 2022, Fiala stated that there were sufficient supplies in local reservoirs; as a result, the Czech Republic was prepared to deal with the possible lowering or cutting supplies. According to him, agreements with suppliers from third countries have been prepared within the framework of the EU. The Czech Republic will also release CZK 300m for humanitarian aid, has recalled its consent to operate Russian Federation consulates in Karlovy Vary and Brno and has suspended the operation of Czech consulates in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. The Czech Republic will advocate for their strictest possible option within the sanctions under preparation.
