Government released CZK 152m to purchase vaccine from AstraZeneca

(ČIA) On October 5, 2020, the Czech government decided to accede to the agreement between the EU and AstraZeneca, a manufacturer of the candidate vaccine against COVID-19. It released CZK 152m from the government budget reserve for the purchase of the vaccine. In total, the Czech Republic will receive three million doses of the vaccine for 1.5m people from one of the potential producers of the new vaccine through the EU. The first 10% of this volume should arrive in the Czech Republic in 2020 and the rest by mid-2021. In addition, the Czech Republic will negotiate vaccines from other manufacturers.
