Government to ask for extension of state of emergency

(ČIA) The government led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) will ask the Chamber of Deputies to extend the state of emergency until the end of May 2022, stating that it is a necessary tool to cope with the massive refugee crisis coming from war-stricken Ukraine. The existing state of emergency declared on March 2 will expire on April 3. At the same time, the government approved additional humanitarian and material aid for Ukraine. At the request of Ukraine, the Czech Ministry of the Interior will donate equipment components, ballistic protection, optical and additional minor material worth CZK 53.26m. Furthermore, the Czech Fire and Rescue Service will discard six fire engines from its fleet and donate them to the Ukrainian colleagues.
