(ČIA) The government approved an amendment to the Value Added Tax Act, which was submitted by the Ministry of Finance. The amendment eliminates unequal tax treatment for the delivery of consignments within cross-border electronic commerce. Until now, small consignments of up to EUR 22 from non-EU countries have been exempt from VAT, while all consignments from EU countries have been subject to VAT. The amendment removes this exemption for small consignments with effect from January 1, 2021. The government also approved an adjustment to the budget process, so that intensive budget preparation will not begin until August 10, 2020, when the Ministry of Finance will update its macroeconomic and revenue forecasts. The information was published by the Ministry of Finance.
