HK ČR: MPSV's proposal of higher sickness benefit unacceptable for companies

(ČIA) After the tripartite meeting, the Czech Chamber of Commerce (HK ČR) warned that increasing sickness benefits from 60 to 90% of the daily assessment base, as proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MPSV), would mean enormous costs for employers. According to the Chamber, the state could temporarily take over the payment of compensation for wages in the event of illness. Nor does it consider a proposal to increase the extraordinary contribution from CZK 250 to CZK 500 for quarantined persons to be a viable solution. In addition to its possible misuse, the contribution will be paid by entrepreneurs and private sector employees through higher taxes.
