This has been the case for over seven years. The new poll has 50.6 per cent opposed to EU membership and 28.2 per cent in favour. Roughly a third of respondents are strongly opposed to joining the bloc, while just 11.4 per cent are strongly in favour. A similar poll produced by MMR in January saw 47 per cent reject EU membership, with 36.2 per cent in favour. Removing those respondents not giving a specific answer to the question, a total of 64 per cent of Icelanders oppose EU membership, while 36 per cent are in favour. Every poll produced in Iceland since July 2009 has shown a majority against EU membership. (MBL.is)
