More trains from Norway to Sweden
A new departure from Oslo to Gothenburg will be added in December. The additional route will bring daily departures up from three to four on weekdays, and from two to three during the weekends, according to Norwegian state railway company Vy. Environmental organizations along with the Greens Party (MDG) and the Socialist Left party (SV) have been among those complaining about the lack of train service between Norwegian and Swedish cities. The trouble continues for those trying to get to the European continent or beyond by train, at a time when flying is seen as a distinctly climate-unfriendly option. Arne Fosen of Vy said that the new train departures will provide better connections from Gothenburg on to Helsingborg, Malmö and Copenhagen, and on to other destinations in Europe.
