MPO: Ministers approved emission-free building norms

(CIANEWS) - On October 25, 2022 in Luxembourg, the Ministers of Energy agreed the general approach of the EU Council to the proposal for a directive on the energy performance of buildings. It expects that from 2030, all new buildings will be in emission-free standard. For public buildings, this obligation will apply from 2028. By 2050, all existing buildings should be emission-free. The European Commission (EC) presented to ministers a proposal for measures to ensure sufficient energy at affordable prices through joint purchases of natural gas and the introduction of a special temporary mechanism to limit price fluctuations on the energy market. The EC also presented the possibilities of separating gas and electricity prices. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic (MPO) further informed that the final form of the corresponding legislation should be approved by the member states at the extraordinary Energy Council on November 24, 2022.
