MPO proposes rules for heating during state of emergency

(CIANEWS) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic (MPO) proposes a new regulation setting out special rules for heating and hot water supply. It sets a limit below which the temperature in individual rooms should not fall. It would come into force in the event of the declaration of a pre-emptive state of emergency or a state of emergency in the heating sector. The aim is to provide the legislative conditions to respond to a possible shortage of natural gas from the Russian Federation. It applies mainly to coal and gas-fired sources, and also to central heating using fossil fuels. Industry and Trade Minister Jozef Síkela (STAN) added that gas savings could count towards the EU Council regulation's target of reducing gas consumption by 15%.
