MPSV: Most firms look for staff, plan wage increase

(CIANEWS) - High energy prices are perceived as a threat by 75% of firms. More expensive raw materials and other inputs are also a problem, according to surveys from the end of November and the first half of December 2022 conducted by the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MPSV) and LMC. A total of 64% of the respondents cut investments. Almost 50% have exchanged or are planning to exchange equipment for less energy-intensive ones, have added or are planning to add heat insulation to buildings and optimise energy utilisation. Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) added that eight in ten larger firms and 13% of small enterprises were currently looking for new employees. Two-thirds of firms are planning to increase wages. Most frequently, a blanket increase of 6% to 10% should occur.
