Nokia-branded phones are officially back

HMD Global, the Helsinki-basedtechnology start-up that has been granted exclusive rights to use the once-iconic brand in smartphones and tablet computers, announced yesterday that it has re-commenced the sales of Nokia-branded feature phones and will launch a new generation of smartphones in the first half of next year. HMD Global in May signed a partnership agreement with FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of the largest contract electronics manufacturer in the world, Foxconn, for manufacturing the handsets. The smartphones and tablet computers will be powered by Google's Android, and designed and marketed by HMD. (Helsinki Times)
