(CIANEWS) - The board of directors of Nokian Tires has decided to commence a controlled exit from the Russian market. Due to the war in Ukraine and the subsequent tightening of sanctions, it is no longer possible or sustainable for the company to continue operating in Russia. Nokian Tires will evaluate different exit options. Due to this process, in 2Q 2022, the company will record an impairment related to the Russian assets in the amount of approximately EUR 300m. In 2021, approximately 80 % of its passenger car tires were produced in Russia. The company continues to increase the capacity of its factories in Finland and the USA and has decided to invest in a brand new capacity in Europe.
