Norway inflation rate falls to 5-year low

Average consumer prices increased just 1.2 per cent year on year, down from 1.6 per cent in September and below forecasts of a 1.4 per cent rise. Cheaper food imports continued to be the main cause of the weak price growth, despite the relatively weak krone. Norway’s central bank acknowledged last month that inflation had been weaker than it expected recently, and the latest figures will provide further support to its view that an interest rate rise is a long way off.
