Norway spurs $400mn rainforest fund at Davos

Announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the plan is a major effort to reform harmful small scale farming, which is one of the biggest drivers of deforestation in Brazil. "The future of the planet depends on our common ability to both protect and restore forests at unprecedented scale," PM Erna Solberg said in a statement. The fund will be launched with a commitment of $100 million from the Norwegian government, with plans that the private sector will help it reach $400 million by 2020. (The Local Norway)
