(ČIA) According to the National Budget Council (NRR), the state budget presented by the government of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) represents a reasonable compromise between the amount of savings, maintaining the operation of public services and helping the most vulnerable social groups. However, in addition to spending restraint, the NRR also pointed to the importance of the revenue side of the budget, where the OECD recommendations can be a guide for the government. Overall, the council sees the draft as the first sign of realisation that the Czech public finances have been on an unsustainable trajectory, especially in the last two years. In addition, however, the NRR critically pointed out that there are also measures in the budget for which there is as yet no legislative backing.
