NRR: Revenues must increase without changes to pensions

(CIANEWS) - The National Budget Council (NRR) needs to consider the current medium-term outlook of Czech public finances counting on preserving the structural deficit at values of around 3% of the GDP sustainable. It appreciates that a discussion is starting at the government level about measures on the expenditure and revenues sides that would lead to an improved balance, with their specifics to be announced in the first half of 2023. The NRR principle that if there is no adjustment of the three main expenditure items – pensions, health care and education, the lowering of the current structural imbalance cannot be realised only by reduced expenditures still applies. It will be necessary to increase public-budget revenues.
