(CIANEWS) - Orkla Foods Czech Republic and Slovakia has invested over CZK 80m at its Hamé Babice plant in the technology for the recovery and recycling of hot water used for sterilisation. Currently, the water savings are at 45%. After the technology enters into full operation in the summer of 2023, the savings will total up to 75%. The remaining energy from hot water used to preheat other processes will save approximately 5,000 MWh per year and 1,000 t of CO2. The manufacturer of non-perishable and refrigerated food products draws water from ten underground bores. The technology has also decreased the amount of used chemicals for cleaning, treatment, and maintenance costs by 75%.
