P. Fiala: EU leaders agree on faster support for industry

(CIANEWS) - In Brussels, the European Council agreed to support strategic sectors affected by high energy prices. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) commented that the funds that the Czech Republic has already negotiated for the development of regions, transport infrastructure, energy projects and other investments must not be reduced. The EU leaders also acknowledged that support for industry must not become a subsidy race between countries. Mr Fiala added that they supported faster approval of public aid so that the funds reach the beneficiaries more easily. He asked to focus first on existing resources already in the European budget.
