Pirates propose change to tax on extra profit

(CIANEWS) - In reaction to the draft tax on extraordinary profits entered into the Chamber of Deputies’ system by Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS), the Pirate Party has submitted its own draft. The essence of the change is to lower the tax rate from 60% to 40%. According to the Pirates, the high tax offers a specific motivation for tax optimisation. The extraordinary taxation also should not discriminate against the size of the market participants. Therefore, the Pirates proposed a demand to equalise the size of a company in the energy and banking sector to CZK 2bn. They also propose to move the period in which the tax will be applied to the years 2022 to 2024.
