(CIANEWS) - On May 12, 2022, the Chamber of Deputies (PSP) again discussed a government draft amendment to the act on significant market power (SMP) regarding the sale of agricultural and food products and its abuse. It incorporates an EU regulation and stipulates the method of assessing and preventing unfair business practices of customers with significant market power in an agricultural and food chain. MP Josef Kott (ANO) said that if the amendment went through, it would worsen the position of some entities that were incorrectly believed to have the power to negotiate such terms that would prevent the use of unfair business practices against them. David Pražák (ANO) said that the act did not deal with international chains where unfair business practices occurred. Therefore, the session has been suspended.
