Škoda Transportation trams have started operating in Chemnitz

On September 25, 2019 Škoda Transportation’s ForCity trams ceremoniously started operating with passengers in the German city of Chemnitz. The Plzeň-based company supplied the Chemnitz public transit company (CVAG) with a total of 14 bi-directional 100% low-floor vehicles with stainless steel cabinets. The passenger capacity totals up to 281 people, 64 of them seated. The price of the contract totaled roughly CZK 950m. Škoda Transportation will also supply 80 trams to the Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr transit company. The contract also includes an option for a further 34 vehicles. The overall value of the contract totals several billions of crowns.
