Statoil strikes deal with Advacam
This will be a major advantage over current inspection technologies, which are costly and time consuming. Originally developed for the CERN international research centre in Geneva, Advacam’s technology is based on 3D X-ray radiography. The contract with Statoil may be a breakthrough for the company, which sells two thirds of its detectors to scientific institutions. Established in 2013 as a spin-off using knowledge and patents of the Institute of Technical and Applied Physics of Czech Technical University in Prague, Advacam is an example of successfully translating research results into commercial practice. The company posted a turnover of CZK 30 million in 2016, expecting a growth of one quarter this year. (IHNed.cz)
