Stora Enso increase pellet sales to more than 70,000 t
(ČIA) Stora Enso sold 5% more goods year on year in the Czech Republic in 2021. Of the more than 70,000 tonnes of wood pellets, roughly 28,000 tonnes, i.e., 40% of the production volume, went to Czech customers. The next largest markets were Italy and Austria. The demand for pellets that are a cost-effective and renewable energy source is increasing, especially in connection with the hike in gas and electricity prices. State support of biomass combustion in the form of boiler subsidies has also had a long-term effect on the increased interest. This year, the company plans to increase production and focus on the local market.
