Sweden bans smoking outside bars

Smoking has already been banned in bars and restaurants for several years. Now, the ban has been extended to areas outside them as well as other public places, such as public playgrounds, bus stops and railway platforms. The Swedish Health Authority sees the legislation as a significant step in protecting people's health, saying it is necessary to reduce the number of both active and passive smokers.
