(CIANEWS) - Retail sales will fall by about 2% in real terms in 2023. Trinity Bank's chief economist Lukáš Kovanda said that this will lead to a cleansing of the overcrowded online shop scene in the Czech Republic. According to experts, up to 10,000 domestic e-shops will see the end. According to Mr. Kovanda, the prospects are bleak especially for the less established online shops, focused on expendable goods such as electronics, sports equipment, or books. There are 50,000 e-shops in the Czech Republic, one of the highest per capita figures in the world. Many of them were created during the pandemic.
