(ČIA) Representatives of the government, trade unions and employers met at the first meeting of the Council of Economic and Social Agreement of the Czech Republic in 2022 and the first meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) on January 18, 2022. The main point on the agenda was the current development of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic and measures the government has adopted or plans to adopt to manage the situation. The second important point on the agenda dealt with the current challenges related to the European Green Deal and the issue of taxonomy. Finally, the tripartite members discussed the current state of the Czech Republic’s preparations for the Green Deal and agreed on the position of the Czech government for further negotiations with the EU: the social partners declared the need to change the conditions for the taxonomy of nuclear power and gas to factor in real possibilities of all member states, not to threaten the meeting of the goals of the Green Deal by the Czech Republic, and to not lead to negative impacts on energy safety, companies’ competitiveness and the social area.
