Unemployment grows to 3.6%, OSVČ resume activity

(CIANEWS) - As of April 30, 2023, the Czech Labour Office registered 261,683 job seekers, down 11,795 in month-on-month terms and up by 18,025 year on year. The share of the unemployed grew by 0.3 pp year on year to 3.6%. In an international comparison, the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic was the lowest in the EU, namely at 2.6%, according to the latest Eurostat data (for March 2023). The EU average was 6.1%. A total of 93,326 persons from Ukraine enjoying temporary protection status worked in the Czech Republic. In the previous month, 31,800 persons registered with the Labour Office, while 43,600 persons (the highest April figure over the past four years) deregistered. Sole traders (OSVČ) who temporarily suspended their activities over winter have resumed them.
