Unemployment up to 2.7% in Q1, employment up

(CIANEWS) - Total employment in the Czech Republic in Q1 2023 increased by 55,300 persons, i.e. by 1.1% y/y to 5.20 million. The increase is mainly due to the increase in female workers (+59,700). The number of employees increased by 21,100, the number of entrepreneurs (self-employed, excluding unpaid family members) by 46,000. In the primary sector of agriculture, forestry and fishing, the number of employees increased by 6,500 to 136,800. In the secondary sector of industry and construction, there was no significant change in the number of workers, their number increased by 5,100 to 1.88 million. The unemployment rate was 2.7%, compared with 2.3% in the same period of the previous year, the Czech Statistical Office reported.
