Velux to build 2 PVPPs, use recycled aluminium

(CIANEWS) - The Velux Group has made a new commitment to use renewable electricity in all European operations throughout the supply chain, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 40,000 t/year. Zdeněk Okáč, Sales and Marketing support manager for Velux Czech Republic and Slovakia, said that Velux produces 6% of the life cycle emissions from its products, with 94% coming from suppliers. The cooperation with BayWa will lead to the construction of two solar parks (PV parks), which will power Velux's European operations until 2024. They will generate 167 GWh of energy per year. The new partnership with Novelis will ensure that 70% of the aluminium used will be recycled material.
