PROJECT #15-2024 Czech Leonarda
The promotion of talented female filmmakers for the cinema sector is the purpose of our foundation's new film prize. The first year of the award should be held during this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Awarded writers, directors and designers will receive a creative financial scholarship. This should enable them to develop or realise quality scripts developing inventive themes. The project is also intended to contribute to gender balance. It is alarming that only 16% of films made in the Czech Republic over the past decade have been directed by female directors.
